Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 23, 2026  ·  Last updated: June 23, 2026

The short version: Your private collections never leave your device and are never seen by us. The moment you choose to share a collection — publicly or privately — it is transmitted to our servers and subject to content review. We do not sell your data. Ever.

1. Who We Are

Thngs ("we," "us," or "our") is a mobile application that allows users to photograph, catalog, organize, and search personal collections. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of the Thngs app and the website at urthngs.com (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2a. Information you provide

2b. Information generated automatically

2c. What we do NOT collect

3. Your Private Collections

Private collections are stored exclusively on your device. We have no copy, no access, and no visibility into any collection you have not chosen to share. Deleting the app permanently deletes your private data — we cannot recover it on your behalf.

All search, organization, and browsing of a private collection happens entirely on your device. Nothing is transmitted to our servers during these activities. We are technically incapable of viewing, accessing, or disclosing the contents of a collection you have not shared.

4. Shared Collections and Content Moderation

Thngs allows users to share collections with other users, either publicly (visible to anyone) or privately (visible only to invited individuals). When you choose to share a collection, its contents are transmitted to and stored on our servers. By sharing a collection, you acknowledge and consent to the following:

4a. Automated content review

All shared collections — both public and private — are processed through an automated content moderation pipeline. This pipeline screens for sexually explicit material (NSFW), hate content, and other content that violates our Terms of Use. The pipeline uses image analysis and text scanning technology.

Public collections are subject to more frequent and more comprehensive automated review than private shared collections, as they are accessible to any user of the platform.

Private shared collections undergo a baseline automated review at the time of sharing and may be reviewed again if flagged by a recipient.

4b. Human review

Collections flagged by the automated pipeline are placed in a review queue and may be examined by a Thngs moderator. Flagged collections are not made visible to other users during the review period. You will be notified if your collection is flagged.

4c. Consequences of policy violations

Collections found to violate our Terms of Use will be removed and the associated account may be suspended or terminated. We reserve the right to take any action necessary to protect the safety of our users and the integrity of the platform.

5. Illegal Content and Law Enforcement

We have a zero-tolerance policy for illegal content. Any collection — shared or, where we become aware of it, otherwise — containing content that is illegal under applicable law, including but not limited to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), will be immediately reported to the relevant law enforcement authorities and preserved as required by law. We cooperate fully with lawful law enforcement requests, subpoenas, and court orders.

This obligation applies regardless of whether the collection was shared publicly, shared privately, or came to our attention through any other means. No expectation of privacy applies to illegal content.

6. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.

7. Data Sharing with Third Parties

We do not sell your data. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

8. Data Retention

9. Your Rights and Choices

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address in Section 11. We will respond within 30 days.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify users by email or in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
